    Decorative cartouche enclosing title, author and imprint details, with a surrounding curtain. Ten insects are arranged around this, including butterflies, beetles, and a mosquito, with two spiders.

    Plate 1 [title plate] from the collection Diversae insectarum volatilium icones ad vivum accuratissime depictae, by Jacob Hoefnagel (Amsterdam, Nicolao Ioannis Visscher, 1630).

    The plate is numbered, ‘1’, lower right. There is a manuscript shelf mark, upper left: ‘R, VII, 10.’ With a Royal Society stamp bottom centre.
