Description
Meteorite specimen, taken from a shower over the northern part of the district of Jilin [Kirin], China. The specimen lies on a red cushioned presentation stand, above a label inscribed: 'Kirin Meteorite China No 1. 1976.3.8.15'
Written in an article by a Joint Investigation Group on specimens from the shower: 'Four representative samples from the Kirin meteorites have been analysed by means of atomic absorption spectrometry, flame photometry, colorimetry, and classical gravimetry and volumetry [...] It was concluded from the results of the chemical analyses of the Kirin meteorites and the related data that the Kirin meteorites belong to the ordinary H-group chondrites'. ['A preliminary survey on the Kirin Meteorite shower' Scientia Sinica Vol. 20, no. 4, p. 511.]
