Description

The plate is inscribed ‘Pl. 1. a.’ above; and below: ‘On Stone by F.J. Swinton. Lith. of R.H. Pease, Albany.’

Ebenezer Emmons senior (1799-1863) American geologist and writer on agriculture, was associated with the Geological Survey of the State of New York. His son acted as a paid assistant and illustrator after Emmons senior’s appointment as the State Geologist.
