Botanical study of three varieties of cultivated plum. Figure 1. Denniston’s Superb. Figure 2. Denniston’s Seedling. Figure 3. March’s Seedling. The plate shows fruit only for figures 1 and 3, with bough and leaves for figure 2.

Ebenezer Emmons (1799-1863) American geologist, associated with the Geological Survey of the State of New York. His son acted as a paid assistant and illustrator after Emmons senior’s appointment as the State Geologist.
