The plate is inscribed ‘PLATE IV.’ above; and below: ‘E. EMMONS Jr. DEL. G. & W. ENICOTT LITH. N. YORK. ON STONE BY F. SWINTON.’

Ebenezer Emmons (1799-1863) American geologist, associated with the Geological Survey of the State of New York. His son acted as a paid assistant and illustrator after Emmons senior’s appointment as the State Geologist.
