    The plate is inscribed ‘Pl.60.’ above: and below: ‘On stone by Swinton. Lith. of R.H. Pease, Albany.’

    Ebenezer Emmons (1799-1863) American geologist, associated with the Geological Survey of the State of New York. His son acted as a paid assistant and illustrator after Emmons senior’s appointment as the State Geologist.
