Half-length portrait of Jons Jakob Berzelius, turned to the left [as viewed] and looking out at the viewer. He wears a white shirt and cravat underneath a dark suit and wrap. The medal of the Order of Leopold is pinned to the left breast of his jacket. He leans his right hand on a table beside him, atop which a book rests.
