Professor Jennifer Anne Doudna (b.1964), American biochemist, was elected a Foreign Member of the Royal Society in 2016. She was awarded the Croonian Medal and Lecture in 2018 'For her outstanding structural and functional studies of RNA and ribonucleoproteins and for elucidating the molecular mechanism of the CRISPR-Cas9 system and developing it for genetic engineering'.
