Description
Formal portrait of Henry Holland in a photographic studio. He is shown sitting on a chair with his left arm resting on a circular table. A book, inkwell and upturned top hat can also been seen on the table, which is covered by a patterned tablecloth. Holland is wearing a dark tie, white shirt and long, dark jacket. A draped curtain is shown behind him and a patterned rug covers the floor.

Sir Henry Holland (1788-1873), British physician and travel writer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1815 and served as Vice President between 1835-1836, 1860-1861 and 1864-1866.
