Professor Linda Brown Buck (b.1947), American biologist, was elected a Foreign Member of the Royal Society in 2015. She was jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Richard Axel in 2004, for discovering hundreds of genes code for the odorant sensors located in the olfactory neurons of noses.
