Description
Three-quarter length seated portrait of Everard Home turned slightly to his right. Home is wearing a double-breasted jacket and is seated with his right hand resting on a writing desk and his left hand holding a document in his lap. There are three inkpots, one with a quill pen in it, and a small pile of documents also on the desk. A large animal skull can be seen in the top left of the print.
Inscribed below: ‘Painted by Sir W. Beechey R.A Portrait Painter to Her Majesty./SIR EVERARD HOME BART V.P.R.S.’
Everard Home (1756 – 1832), British surgeon, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1787. He was awarded the Copley Medal in 1807.
