Description
Three-quarter length seated portrait of James Hook, facing out towards the viewer. He is depicted with a quill pen in his right hand and a small book in his left. Behind him is a large curtain with a landscape view of a clouded sky visible in the top left of the print.

James Hook (1771-1828), British priest, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1816.
