    Four figures from issue 137 of Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society.

    Figures 1-2. Plan view of the oven house on a chicken farm, showing two entrances and fourteen ovens, and a detail view of one oven. Illustrations to ‘The manner of hatching chicken at Cairo, observed by Mr. John Gravesm sometime Professor of Astronomy at Oxford; and communicated by Sir George Ent, late President of the college of Physitians, London’ in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol. 12, issue 137 (10 February 1678). Original illustrations were first shown at a meeting of the Royal Society on 5 March 1668, available in Register Book Original of the Royal Society RBO/3/78, and copied into Register Book Copy RBC/3.
