Description
Two figures depicting self-sustaining stone archways, one [top] with a chimney built in. Illustrations to ‘An extract of a letter from the Reverend and learned Dr. John Wallis, to the publisher Dr. Robert Plot; concerning two very large some chimney-pieces: with a peculiar sort of arch work thereon’ by John Wallis in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol. 14, issue 166 (20 December 1684).
