    Joseph Chatt (1914-1994) British inorganic chemist was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1961, he was awarded the Davy medal in 1979 in recognition of his distinguished contributions to transition metal chemistry and the understanding of catalysis involving ligating molecules such as olefins or dinitrogen.
