George Ingle Finch (1888-1970) Australian chemist was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1938. He was awarded the Hughes Medal in 1944 for his fundamental contributions to the study of the structure and properties of surfaces, and for his important work on the electrical ignition of gases.
