Description
Half-length portrait of Thomas Howard within an oval frame. Howard is shown wearing a fur coat with a white collar and a medallion featuring a mounted knight around his neck. The frame is decorated with leaves and nuts and is draped with a large cloth. A bust, a mask and a partially rolled illustration of a horse, a dog and a lion are visible below the frame. At the bottom of the print, a sculpture of a face in profile and a rolled illustration of a male figure can also be seen.

Thomas Howard, 14th Earl of Arundel (1585-1646), British diplomat, was not a Fellow of the Royal Society. His great-grandson Thomas Howard (c1655-1689), British courtier, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1672.
