    Description
    Head and shoulders sculpture bust of Elias Ashmole. The bust is turned slightly to the right [as viewed], on a pedestal engraved ‘ELIAS ASHMOLE’, under a stone archway.

    Elias Ashmole (1617-1692) British astrologer and antiquary was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1661.

    Charles Turnor presented his Collectanea Newtoniana. Being a selection of the most authentic engraved portraits of Sir Isaac Newton Knt., and other eminent Philosophers Mathematicians and Distinguished Men … to the Royal Society in 1837.
