Head and shoulders portrait of Thomas Sydenham, turned to the left [as viewed], looking directly out at the viewer. With a satin shawl and a white, laced necktie. In a carved oval frame, on a pedestal with an urn, books, manuscripts and Aesculapius' stick below.

Charles Turnor presented his Collectanea Newtoniana. Being a selection of the most authentic engraved portraits of Sir Isaac Newton Knt., and other eminent Philosophers Mathematicians and Distinguished Men … to the Royal Society in 1837.
