Sir (William) Lawrence Bragg (1890-1971), Australian-born British physicist and crystallographer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1921. He was awarded the Society’s Hughes Medal, 1931, Royal Medal, 1946, and Copley Medal, 1966. Bragg and his father, Sir William Henry Bragg (1862-1942) were joint recipients of the Nobel Prize (Physics) in 1915 for ‘their services in the analysis of crystal structure by means of X-rays’.
