Sir Edward James Salisbury (1886-1978), British ecologist and botanist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1933, served as Secretary between 1945 and 1955, and Vice President between 1942 and 1943, and 1946 and 1955. He was awarded the Royal Medal in 1945 for his ‘notable contributions to plant ecology and to the study of the British flora generally’.
