The accompanying text is headed: ‘Un morceau coupe en travers d’une gousse de semence de mauve sauvage’ [‘A section of wild mallow seed’]. Written by way of a description: ‘La gousse coupee par le millieu en travers consiste en une large etoile, composee de 14. raions ou cellules a graine’ [‘The pod cut in the middle crosswise consists of a large star, composed of 14 rays or seed cells’].
