Sir Charles Robert Harington (1897-1972), British chemist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal society in 1931 and served as its Vice President between 1942-1943. He received the Society’s Royal Medal in 1944 for ‘his work in the analysis and synthesis of thyroxine, and in immunological chemistry’ and delivered the Croonian Lecture in 1944 on the same subject.
