Robert Downs Haworth (1898-1990), British organic chemist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1944. He was awarded the Society’s Davy Medal in 1956 ‘in recognition of his distinguished contributions to the chemistry of natural products particularly those containing heterocyclic systems’.
