Dorothy Mary (Crowfoot) Hodgkin FRS (1910-1994), British chemist and crystallographer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1947. She was awarded the Society’s Royal Medal, 1956, and Copley Medal, 1976, and was the recipient of the Nobel Prize (Chemistry) in 1964 for ‘her determinations by X-ray techniques of the structures of important biochemical substances’.
