Sir Ernest Laurence Kennaway (1881-1958), British pathologist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1934. He was awarded the Society’s Royal Medal in 1941 for ‘his discovery of the nature of carcinogenic substances in coal tar and for his investigations on production of cancer by synthetic substances’.
