Raymond Arthur Lyttleton (1911–1995), British astronomer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1955. He was awarded the Society’s Royal Medal in 1965 in ‘recognition of his distinguished contributions to astronomy, particularly for his work on the dynamic stability of the galaxies’.
