William Hobson Mills (1873-1959), British organic chemist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1923. He was awarded the Society’s Davy Medal in 1933 for ‘his researches in organic chemistry, and for his work on the synthesis and properties of the cyanine dyes, and more especially for his investigation of novel types of asymmetric molecules’.
