Sir Harry Ralph Ricardo (1885-1974), British mechanical engineer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1929. He was awarded the Rumford Medal in 1944 ‘in recognition of his important contributions to research on the internal combustion engine, which have greatly influenced the development of the various types’, and the Bakerian Award in 1947.
