William Albert Hugh Rushton (1901-1980), British neurophysiologist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1948. He was awarded the Society’s Royal Medal in 1970 ‘in recognition of his distinguished work on the visual pigments in the living eye and on chemical and nervous adaptation in the retina’, and its Ferrier Award in 1962.
