Sir Charles Scott Sherrington (1857-1952), British physiologist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1893, served as its Vice President between 1917-1918 and 1925-1926, and President between 1920-1925. He was awarded the Croonian Award, 1897, Royal Medal, 1905, Copley Medal, 1927, Ferrier Award, 1929, and was joint recipient of Nobel Prize (Physiology) with Edgar Adrian (1889-1977) in 1932 for their work on the function of neurons.
