Richard Laurence Millington Synge (1914-1994), British biochemist, was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1950. He was joint recipient of the Nobel Prize (Chemistry) with Archer John Porter Martin (1910-2002) in 1952 for ‘their invention of partition chromatography’.
