Alexander Robertus Todd, Baron Todd (1907-1997), British chemist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1942 and served as its President between 1975-1980. He was awarded the Society’s Davy Medal, 1949, Bakerian Award, 1954, Royal Medal, 1955 and Copley Medal in 1970. He was also recipient of the Nobel Prize (Chemistry) in 1957 for ‘his work on nucleotides and nucleotide co-enzymes’.
