Sir Hans Leo Kornberg (1928-2019), British-American biochemist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1965 and served on its Council between 1975-1977. He was awarded the Leeuwenhoek award in 1972 and delivered the associated lecture on ‘carbohydrate transport by micro-organisms’.
