John Clive Ward (1924-2000), British-Australian physicist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1965 and awarded its Hughes Medal in 1983 for ‘his highly influential and original contributions to quantum field theory, particularly the Ward identity and the Salam-Ward theory of weak interactions’.
