Half length portrait of Robert John Kane seated in a round-backed armchair, looking to the viewer with head tilted. Kane is wearing a dark, high collared jacket, white shirt and a dark tie. He is shown against a panelled interior.
Inscribed: “George F.Mulvany R.H.A. S.Freeman. SIR ROBERT KANE, M.D., F.R.S., M.R.I.A., PRESIDENT OF THE QUEEN’S COLLEGE, CORK.” With a facsimile signature.
Sir Robert John Kane was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1849.
