Inscribed: ‘Drawn on Stone by M Gauci Painted by P. W. Wilkin, Esq/ CLARKE ABEL, M.D./ Died at Cainnore, 24th Novr. 1826, Aged 37/ Printed by Englemann, G, C., & Co.’
Clarke Abel (c.1780 - 1826), British surgeon and naturalist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1819.
