    Inscribed: ‘Maurin/ Desine d’apres nature. Lith de Delpech./ BIOT’ with facsimile signature and Royal Society stamp.

    Jean Baptiste Biot (1774-1862), French physicist, astronomer and mathematician, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1815.
