Half-length portrait of Philip Bisse inclined slightly to the right as viewed, dressed in clerical robes with a square collar and curled wig. In an oval frame with coat of arms below.
Inscribed: ‘Tho: Hill pinxit 1719 Geo: Bertue Sculpsit./ Reverendus ad modum/ in Christo Patr PHILIPPUS BISSE Episcopus HEREFORDENSIS’ with further handwritten annotation 1706.
Philip Bisse (1677-1721), English bishop, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1706.
