Maritime scene, showing the Royal Navy frigate H.M.S.Richmond under sail, with a stormy sky and waterspout in the background.
The accompanying text notes that: ‘We are happy in being able to present our readers, in the present number, with a correct representation of this phaenomenon, copied from nature. As it was not accompanied with any circumstances different from what are usual, and have often been stated, a particular description is unnecessary.’.
