Description
Head and shoulders portrait of William Bowyer inclined slightly left, in regency dress, white necktie and queue wig. Presented in an oval frame, beneath which are a quill and inkpot, two pamphlets, including Bower’s The origin of printing and a coat of arms.
Inscribed : ‘GULIELMUS BOWYER/ ARCHITECTUS VERBORUM, Aet. LXXVIII./ Jacobus Basire ad vivum del et sculp.’
