    Half-length portrait of George Cheyne, inclined to the right, in an oval frame. Dressed in a wig, a gown and a necktie.

    Inscribed: ‘I Van Diest pinx. I. Faber fecit./ Georgius Cheynaeus. M. D./ et Spvoetatis Regiae Socius/ Aetat: 59: 1732./ Sold at the Great Toyshop in Bath.’

    George Cheyne (1671-1743), British physician, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1702.
