Above, a portrait of William Curtis, dressed in a queue wig, open jacket, waistcoat, and high-necked shirt, in an oval frame with plants above. Below, vignette of the image used as a frontispiece to Curtis' Flora Londinensis (1777), of three botanists working in a hilly landscape.
Inscribed: ‘WILLIAM CURTIS, F.L.S./ AUTHOR OF THE FLORA LONDINENSIS/ The Frontispiece to Mr Curts’ Flora Londinensis./ Evans Sculpt. London Published by Dr. Thornton, March 1. 1802.’
