Inscribed: ‘Lith de Depech a Paris/ Cles. DUCLOS./ Tire de l’Institut Royal de France’ with facsimile signature and further handwritten annotation ‘Born 1704/ Elec 1764/ Died 1772’.
Charles Pineau Duclos (1704-1772), French writer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1764.
