Inscribed: ‘I. Faber fecit 1738/ William Briggs M. D. Physician in Ordinary to King William ye 3rd/ [Fellow] of the College of Physicians and of the Royal Society, &c./ Sold by P. Overton in Fleet Street.’
William Briggs (1642-1704), British physician and oculist, was not a Fellow of the Royal Society.
