Head and shoulders portrait of Alexandre Brongniart, inclined slightly left as viewed, dressed in a dark coat and jacket, with a white necktie and natural hair.
Inscribed: ‘Lith de Delpech. Maurin./ Alexandre BRONGNIART./ Professeur de Mineralogie au Museum d’Histoire naturelle.’ With further handwritten annotation ‘Elected 1815’.
Alexandre Brongniart (1770 - 1847), French chemist, mineralogist and geologist, was elected a Foreign Member of the Royal Society in 1825.
Inscribed: ‘Lith de Delpech. Maurin./ Alexandre BRONGNIART./ Professeur de Mineralogie au Museum d’Histoire naturelle.’ With further handwritten annotation ‘Elected 1815’.
