Sir Hans Adolf Krebs (1900–1981), German-born British biochemist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1947 and served as its Vice President between 1965-1966. He was awarded the Society’s Royal Medal, 1954, Copley Medal, 1963, Croonian Award, 1963 and 2004, and was awarded the Nobel Prize (Physiology or Medicine) in 1953 ‘for his discover of the citric acid cycle.’
