Sir Nevill Francis Mott (1905-1996), British physicist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1936. He was awarded the Society’s Hughes Medal, 1941, Royal Medal, 1953, Copley Medal, 1972, Bakerian Award, 1953, Rutherford Memorial Award, 1962, and Humphry Davy Award, 1987. He was also joint recipient of the Nobel Prize (Physics) in 1977 for ‘fundamental theoretical investigations of the electronic structure of magnetic and disordered systems’.
