    Head and shoulders portrait of Edward Hooper, facing to the right as viewed. Shown in a short wig, with ribbon. He wears a coat with the top buttons undone, showing a white cravat. In an oval frame.

    Frontispiece to Transactions of the Society, instituted at London, for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce… [Transactions of the Royal Society of Arts] v.14 (1796).

    Inscribed below: ‘EDWARD HOOPER ESQR. F.R.S. Vice President of the Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, & Commerce. Engraved by Wm. Evans from the original Picture painted by Jas. Barry R.A. Professor of Painting to the Royal Academy. Publish’d as the Act directs. June 4 1796’.

    Edward Hooper (c.1701-1795) British lawyer and politician, of Hern Court in Dorset, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1789.
