    Head and shoulders portrait of Peter Templeman, head slightly inclined to the left as viewed. Shown in a short wig, en queue over his right shoulder. The sitter wears a buttoned jacket and white cravat. In an oval frame.

    Inscribed below: ‘R.Conway Esqr. R.A. pinxt. Wm. Evans sculp. PETER TEMPLEMAN M.D. Principal Secretary of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce. Elected March 25 1760. Died September 21 1769. London. Published as the Act directs. August 1 1799’.

    Peter Templeman (1711-1769) British physician and Secretary of the Society of Arts was not a Fellow of the Royal Society.
